Materials & hallmark

Made to be opened, marked to last

The alloy: 18 karat gold is 750 thousandths — 75% gold, 20% copper, 5% silver. It is the legal minimum fineness for gold in France, and the medallion, hinge and chain of the Heritage are all made of it.

The engraving: the border is engraved, and the rose is engraved by hand — a rose that repeats the maison's motif, drawn with the burin rather than the machine.

The hallmarks: because the Heritage carries 3.2 g of gold — above the 3 g French threshold — it receives both punches: the eagle's head in a hexagon, the official 18k fineness punch, and our maker's responsibility punch, which ties the piece to the atelier that made it.

The honest price

The price of the metal

On 22 October 2026, 18k gold costs about 87.70 € per gram (gold itself trades at 4,085.40 USD per ounce). The Heritage holds 3.2 g of gold — about 281 € at today's price.

The rest of the 420 € covers the fabrication: casting the medallion, fitting the hinge, engraving the border and the rose, finishing, hallmarking, the chain, and the lifetime repair service. We keep the two figures separate so you always see what you pay for metal and what you pay for the hand.

Gold prices move; the price shown when you order is the price you pay.

Care

Three gestures for an heirloom

Open it gently

The hinge is fine work. Open and close the medallion with two fingers, never by force, and keep what is inside protected.

Keep it dry

Don't wear the medallion swimming, and dry it if it gets wet — the gold is fine, and what lives inside the locket is not.

Clean the outside

Wipe the outside with a soft cloth; for a deeper clean, warm water with a drop of mild soap, rinsed and dried, without opening it.

The atelier

Made in the Paris atelier

The Heritage is cast, engraved and finished at 14 rue de Saintonge, in the Marais — the same two hands from the first sketch to the last polish.

Lost-wax casting

The medallion is cast in 750‰ gold using the lost-wax process, then fitted with its hinge in two perfectly matched halves.

Hand engraving

The border is engraved, and the rose is cut by hand with the burin — the same motif as the maison's signet, drawn one line at a time.

Finishing and hallmarking

The medallion is polished, inspected, and stamped with the eagle's head and our maker's responsibility punch before it leaves the bench.
